Jen Stein
CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD, TRUSTEE
My love for skiing started when I was a kid skiing in the East and I’ve been hooked ever since. As an adult, I began exploring skiing out West with my children. I’ve been an active member of the club and love planning events that bring our members together for all four seasons. Professionally, I work as a nutrition and diabetes educator in the community. I’m eager to use my skills to help promote the club and attract new members. I believe in fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all skiers, and I’m excited to work with the board to make that happen. I’m always up for a good conversation about staying active outdoors and recommendations for healthy eating, so don’t hesitate to say hello!
Tom Boehm
PRESIDENT
Tom has been a member of the club since 2017. He loves skiing and was looking to ski more often and to meet others who share a similar love of the sport. The club was a perfect match with wonderful people, a beautiful lodge, a great cook, and affordable rates. In a short time the club now feels like family to Tom. He is currently serving as the President and webmaster. Tom’s other passions include his family, golf, bike riding, travel, running, hiking and kayaking.
KC Joubran
MEMBERSHIP VICE PRESIDENT
I joined SHSC in 2022 after attending the Big Sky ski trip. It has been a great community of people with similar interests and I instantly felt at home. I have served on the membership committee for the past couple of years. I love meeting new members and helping them feel comfortable in our community!
I have been on skis since I was 2 years old and it is my favorite sport. I also enjoy hiking in the mountains, especially with my dogs. I have lead and participated in many hikes with the club over the years.
I am currently employed at IQVIA in clinical data management and served for 8 years on the Morristown Beard School Alumni Board (President of the Alumni Board for 3 years until I retired from it last year).
I love being involved and look forward to giving back to the community by serving as membership VP.
Richard Wefer
VICE PRESIDENT, LODGE
Christmas 1970, when Rich was in seventh grade, his parents started his lifelong love of skiing by signing him and his younger sister up for five weekends of ski lessons at the now defunct Craigmeur Ski Area in Newfoundland, NJ. This was a total surprise as he didn’t know anybody in his family, extended family or Jersey City neighborhood that skied. He is still very thankful that his parents took this bold move.
Over the years Rich was a guest at our lodge when some member friends invited him up, usually for President’s weekend. He decided to join in January 2019. He volunteered to be the Club Historian and he also helps out a lot on our two Facebook pages. Rich was selected as an appointed Trustee in November 2020, an elected a Two-Year Trustee in 2021, and recently elected as the Lodge VP.
Stratton, Sugarbush and Killington are his favorite mountains. He also enjoys the trips that The New Jersey Ski & Snowboard Council runs.
Rich lives in Vernon NJ with his wife Susan. He has three adult children, Allison, Eric and Rich, and a granddaughter Claire, and is a retired New Jersey career firefighter.
Marianne Carlton
GENERAL TREASURER
I joined the Short Hills Ski and Snowboard Club in September 2022, right after I retired from corporate life. I was looking for a community of people who shared my love of snow and skiing, and I found more than I could have hoped for: a great group of warm and welcoming people with enthusiasm for skiing, hiking and other sports. Being the General Treasurer is one way I can give back to the club. I am fortunate to have a lot of family and lifelong friends nearby and when not skiing, and I spend time with them. I also love classical music, ballet, theater and all “oldies” music including the American Songbook.
Kerry Coffman
LODGE TREASURER
Kerry’s been a member of the Short Hills Ski Club for over 15 years – joining in 2008. He is currently the Lodge Treasurer and has held several positions within the club during his tenure including: House Chair, Trip Chairperson, Lift Ticket Chairperson, Lodge VP, Board member and Lodge Treasurer. Despite growing up in Texas, he enjoys the cold and snowy Northeast winters and tries to make it up to the lodge as often as possible.
Debbie Chanik
SECRETARY
Debbie has been a SHSC member since 2015. But skiing has been a passion of hers long before that. The club has not only given her access to some great skiing, it has also been a terrific source of community and fellowship. The lodge is a “happy place” for Debbie and she looks forward to becoming a more active member in the future.
Trustees
Sharon Weston
TRUSTEE
I love everything winter! I’m a life time skier, that took a break for a number of years while carting my kids around to all their dance competitions. Now that they’re grown and gone, Jon and I are looking to be on the slopes as much as possible.
Scott Tanner
ELECTED TRUSTEE
I have been a member of the Short Hills Ski Club since 2016. I am an educator and teach Physical Education and coach Archery at a public school in Montague, New Jersey. I am an avid outdoorsman, hiker, and skier and enjoy traveling in the pursuit of those activities. I especially enjoy skiing and traveling with friends which naturally led me to the club. In other words, I am a ski nut!
Tom Hahn
TRUSTEE
Tom joined our club in 2011 and was appointed to the board as a trustee in 2025. Since then, he has become an incredible asset.
Tom is an avid skier and serves as the club’s official fishing chairperson. An all-around outdoors enthusiast, he enjoys using the lodge throughout the year. He participates in most work weekends and is responsible for refurbishing a majority of the lodge’s bedrooms. Tom is also our go-to telecom and Wi-Fi expert, bringing 40 years of telecommunications experience from his work with companies like Avaya, Bell Labs, and Prudential.
Tom is married to Monica, who is also an active member of the club. In his retirement, he spends his time skiing, hiking, fishing, and working on projects at the lodge. However, his favorite pastime is spending time with his 3-year-old granddaughter.
Dave Collyer
TRUSTEE
Dave has been an Active Member of the club since 2018 and lived in Cranford, NJ for 28 years before moving to Cape Cod in 2022 where he lives with his Wife of 30 years and his two adult daughters (and two dogs!). He started Skiing at the age of 12 years in southern Vermont town known as Hogback Mountain. His early years skiing were at Mount Snow, Stratton, Bromley and in MA/CT at Southington and Powder Ridge. Highschool treated him well when he attended the American School of Paris where he enjoyed all the French, Italian and Austian Apls had to offer. Dave went to Ithaca College skiing Greek Peak and spending all his spring breaks in the Rockies. During his software career, Dave did quite a bit of volunteering, including as an EMT for Cranford where he parlayed that into free skiing at Mountain Creek. He spent many days skiing Smuggler’s Notch and Killington only being introduced to Sugarbush when he joined the SHSC!
Today, Dave is starting to think about retiring as he and his wife bought a small house in Rochester VT which allows him to keep working remotely while getting in 40+ days of skiing each year. As the seasons change, Dave is looking to warmer outdoor activities in late April when he gets his golf swing in shape as well as his fishing gear tuned. He still thinks about skiing everyday, but from April through Thanksgiving he has Golf, Camping, the Beach and Fishing (along with some work) to keep his mind occupied.
Dave is active in the Club as he hosts at least one weekend each winter and one each summer. Always focusing on members enjoying the club, he’ll make sure there’s plenty of rum punch in the winter and ribs in the summer. He knows the club is only as good as its members and how much they enjoy all that the club has to offer and is always looking for ideas for his weekends (or for the club in general) so don’t be a stranger, if you see him, stop by and introduce yourself!
Larry Fleischman
ELECTED TRUSTEE
I have been a proud member of SHSC since 2019. Skiing has been a part of my life since before I turned two years old. I graduated from the University of Vermont in 1986 with a BS in Business Administration, concentrating in Management and Finance. I later earned a Pharmacy Degree from LIU’s Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy in 1994. I am the proud father of three wonderful children and grandchildren, living in New Jersey, Ohio, and Texas. Professionally, I’ve had the opportunity to work across a wide range of industries. I’ve owned and operated a tour company for over 20 years. I was an investor and a board member of a restaurant, located in Manhattan’s Union Square—for 15 years. In addition, I’ve bought land and built a home on Lake Sacandaga in the Adirondacks. Currently, I work as a retail pharmacist in Brooklyn, NY, serving a diverse community everyday. SHSC is a truly special organization—one that brings people together to enjoy skiing in Vermont at an affordable cost while fostering a vibrant and welcoming social environment. I’m excited about being part of the SHSC Board and giving back to the SHSC community.
Bill Tracy
TRUSTEE
Bill joined the SHSC in July 2023 and has been an active participant in most work weekends since. He particularly enjoys carpentry projects that improve the lodge and values the camaraderie among club members. Last year, Bill organized an extremely successful Chili Cook Off Weekend and plans to lead similar events in the future. He is eager to run for the board to help maintain the club’s strength and make a long-term positive impact.
Bill’s professional background includes serving as VP of Broadcast Operations & Engineering at ABC TV, where he directed technical operations for major events such as the Super Bowl, the Olympics, political conventions, and presidential elections. Following his tenure at ABC, he spent 12 years at Verizon helping launch their digital media services.
An alumnus of Boston College (BA) and Penn State (MS), Bill now enjoys an active retirement. During the winter, he works at Ski Barn and spends as much time as possible skiing. In the summer, he manages a yacht club launch service and enjoys time with his family on his boat.
