Club Officers & Committee Chairs

The Short Hills Ski Club’s officers and committee chairpeople are members who have shown an extraordinary interest in the club’s operation and growth. They are elected into their positions by other club members, and volunteer their time for the betterment of the club.

Club Officers

Nick Kaltneckar

Joel Blank

Joel has been a member of the club since 2003. He is a Columbia University graduate, an administrator in Special Education in New York City and Newark, and has been a ski shop owner since 1979. Joel’s club responsibilities include Lift Ticket Chair, Club President, and Alternate Club Representative to the New Jersey Ski and Snowboard Council. He has been a member of the club’s race team, participating in the Wednesday Night Race League and the State Race at Pico. Joel visited several other clubs before selecting the Short Hills Ski Club for its location, lodge décor, and membership.

Jennifer Willmot

Jennifer has been a member for the Short Hills Ski Club for close to fifteen years. The year-round club activities give Jennifer the opportunity to enjoy many of her life interests. She loves to ski, hike, bike, motorcycle ride and swim. Jennifer is the mother of a beautiful 29 year-old daughter who was recently married in the Mad River Valley of VT. Her husband Don is also a club member, serving as the Vice President (Lodge). Jen has been an active member of the board for many years and loves the friendships she has forged during that time.

Donald Willmot

Ken Ottesen

Ken joined the Short Hills Ski Club just in time for the 2015 ski season, along with his wife, Liza. Although he has dabbled in snowboarding, Ken loves skiing the most. The rest of the year, Ken likes to ride his motorcycle and go hiking. He also likes to travel and enjoys taking pictures of Liza in front of exotic backdrops in faraway places. When he is not seeking recreation, Ken is a patent attorney in Morristown.
Kerry Coffman

Kerry’s been a member of the Short Hills Ski Club for over 9 years – joining in 2008. He is currently the Lodge Treasurer and has held several positions within the club during his tenure including: House Chair, Trip Chairperson, Lift Ticket Chairperson, Lodge VP, Board member and Lodge Treasurer. Despite growing up in Texas, he enjoys the cold and snowy Northeast winters and tries to make it up to the lodge as often as possible.

Monica Hahn

Since joining SHSC in 2011, Monica has served as Party Chairperson, Lift Ticket Chairperson and Appointed Trustee.  She  is currently serving in the role of Secretary. Although the initial draw to the SHSC was its fabulous lodge in Vermont, an unexpected bonus was the friendships that Monica and her husband have formed with others who share their love of the outdoors. They can often be found hiking, biking, kayaking, and, of course, skiing, with their equally adventurous SHSC friends, and they are most grateful to the club for bringing them all together.

Committee Chairpeople

Chuck Hinz

Chuck started skiing at 14, fresh off a beach from Rota, Spain, and hasn’t looked back! Chuck feels that skiing is the most rewarding and exhilarating feeling of freedom and beauty a person can have. Simply said, it’s awesome! His greatest pleasure is being able to pass the skiing tradition on to his darling daughters, Victoria & Alexandra. Try it, “you’ll love it!”

John Strauss

John has been a member of the Short Hills Ski Club since 1996. He skis, snowboards, and is also a hot air balloon pilot. John is very active in the club. He enjoys being a trip captain, holds a pig roast in the fall, and takes responsibility for the wood stacking work weekend in October each year.

Ann Rice

Ann and her husband Shaun have been members of the Short Hills Ski Club for close to 30 years. She has served on the membership committee, was elected to the board as a 2-year trustee, served as chairman of the board and lodge treasurer, and currently serves as an appointed trustee. Additionally, Ann is presently on the hospitality committee acting as “door chair.” Ann loves traveling and the outdoors. She enjoys visiting museums, biking on rail trails, kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving, yoga and, of course, skiing.

David Kapner

Dave has been a member of the SHSC for more than 15 years. Before joining the club, Dave stayed at the lodge many times as a guest. His wife Marie is also a club member and his two college-aged kids grew up skiing with the club. Dave is a former VP of Membership and this is his second time around serving on the board. When not on the slopes, Dave is a Supervising Attorney at the Legal Aid Society of New York, where he has practiced criminal law for 29 years.

Jan Zymroz

A member of the SHSC for over 50 years, Jan has seen many changes, from meeting in members’ homes to owning a lodge in Vermont! The positions she has held over the years are as follows: officers in the club, President of the Bd, running bus trips to the lodge, running trips out west, chaired the Peter MacKecknie library, sold bonds in order to have the finances for the new wing, NJ Ski Council rep, and trustee. Each time she visits the lodge, Jan meets different people and has conversations based upon their individual experiences, making it a great place to spend time with friends!
