With Vermont being the epicenter of craft beer in the northeast, there are many wonderful taverns and brewpubs in the area serving some of Vermont’s finest beers.  Below is a partial list of brewpubs and taverns located near the lodge and surrounding mountains.

Mad River Barn Fayston A good place for both Après ski pub food and drinks, as well as a nice dinner out.  Upstairs has the bar, sofas, small tables and large (with benches and chairs), and the atmosphere where you can meet other skiers and talk about your day’s adventures. It is perfect for singles, couples, or even families with kids. There is a big screen tv, shuffleboard and other games.  But know that it may be a bit loud (although not rowdy).  They have a nice selection of locally-brewed beers and a good drink selection.  A good place to visit after skiing Sugarbush or Mad River Glen 20 miles 27 mins
Castlerock Pub (at Sugarbush) Warren Castlerock Pub is the perfect place to take a break during a day of mountain activities and unwind with one of the best beer selections a ski resort can offer.  Beers include local favorites like Lawson’s, Hill Farmstead, Frost, and many others. The better-than-bar-food menu features Vermont Farm-Raised Burgers with Cabot cheddar cheese, Three-Grain Burger, Nachos, daily specials and more.. Only open during the ski season. 15 miles 23 mins
Green Mountain Lounge (at Mt. Ellen – Sugarbush) Warren

The Green Mountain Lounge is located on the top floor of the Mt. Ellen Base Lodge.  Featured in Ski Magazine as one of the best Après ski bars in the country, the Green Mountain Lounge offers that classic old school New England bar feel. Enjoy lunch with hand tossed pizza made fresh or popular sandwiches like the House Made Slow Roasted Pulled Pork. Stick around to sample a wide selection of micro brews and cocktails.  Only open during the ski season.

General Stark’s Pub (at Mad River Glen) Waitsfield General Stark’s pub and grill is the bar/restaurant that is housed in the “basebox” at the Mad River Glenn Ski Resort. It’s named after General Stark Mountain, which is the peak that MRG’s legendary single chair ascends.  There are about 14 beers on-tap here, and almost all of it is brewed in VT. There were beers from Switchback, Rock Art and Lawson’s (including Double Sunshine and Fayston Maple). Prices are reasonable; they’re actually the same you would pay for a beer at any bar in the area, which is rare for a resort.  Only open during the ski season. 22 miles 30 mins
Worthy Burger Too Waitsfiled Good burgers and fries with an excellent craft beer selection both draft and bottle/can.  Patrons and bartender both very friendly.  Easy parking as it is in the Mad River Green.  If burger/fries/beer is what you seek and you are in the area, this is the place. 18 miles 22 mins
Hyde Away Tavern Waitsfield The tavern offers a selection of some of the finest micro-brews around served by some of the Valley’s finest bartenders and servers. Enjoy friendly conversation in the warm, relaxed atmosphere. And yes, the floors are a little sloped.
